The forecast made the evening before, and what the plant actually produced. The gap is where cost is won or lost.

About

In short

I am an electrical engineer and researcher at Politecnico di Milano, where I am completing a doctorate on advanced forecasting methods for the optimal scheduling of microgrids. My work sits where data, optimization and energy systems meet: forecasting and decision tools that make batteries, photovoltaic plants and grids run better and cost less.

Before Milan I studied Electrical and Computer Engineering in Greece and Spain, worked as a project engineer on photovoltaic plants, managed European research projects and led forecasting development at an energy start-up. I also teach at Politecnico di Milano and advise companies on energy and AI.

Path

2016 to today

A forecast is only as good as the decision it supports.

Expertise

What I work on

Forecasting for decisions

Forecasts designed around the decisions they support, so that accuracy translates into operating value.

Energy forecasting

Short-term forecasting of photovoltaic generation, electricity demand and market prices, deterministic and probabilistic.

Microgrid optimization

Optimal scheduling of batteries, electric vehicle charging and microgrids under technical and market constraints.

PV systems

Photovoltaic plant engineering and data-driven performance monitoring of solar portfolios.

Applied artificial intelligence

Machine learning for energy applications, from research prototypes to production systems.

Research and project management

European research projects, international consortia and validation of new methods on real systems.
